A Musical Feast - WRM Warm Space

In December we were thrilled to receive funding from Wiltshire Community Foundation to open up our beautiful Horsfall Room as a warm space for wellness and music!

Our aim is to provide a friendly atmosphere to over 65s who are craving social interaction, targeting the wider community here in Trowbridge as a ‘social prescription’ to combat loneliness, particularly in the colder months. The session will run every other week for the duration of two years, meaning that we will not pause in the school holidays - a time when a lot of people can feel separated from society as the world goes on holiday or takes a break from work.

The Sessions

We’re very lucky to have many professional musicians running of these workshops, which will be every other Tuesday from 6 February. David Moss, a highly skilled fiddle and mandolin player who spends his days touring around memory cafes and Alzheimer’s hubs to get people’s toes tapping. And Faith Hutton, recently returned to the west from her home country of Canada back to Bradford-on-Avon where she raised her children. Faith is now ready to get back to work and will run singalongs with ukulele, interactive games with hand bells and other such musical entertainment to keep everyone warm for an hour. We will also have guest musicians to fill in the gaps, so there’s always something to look forward to. We are also welcoming guest musicians to run occasional groups when the others aren’t available.

Once the musical section is over, we will be providing participants with a simple lunch, sending them on their way with full bellies and warm hearts.
