Daniel Hammond, 2025 LL Award winner

Daniel Hammond, 19 was presented with his Liz Lawrence Award cheque by the Mayor or Trowbridge last week and crowned our 2025 winner! Daniel, from Box, is a very skilled Trumpeter who auditioned in May of this year. The panel agreed it wasn’t just his skill on the trumpet that shone through, but his passion towards music and how it, in his words, “transcends boundaries”. The award is a £1,000 prize, plus the chance to curate a concert, which will take place at Wiltshire Music Centre on July 17th. The judges were impressed by Daniel’s collaborative attitude to music and knew he would put great effort into creating a wonderful night of music in July. We are already looking forward to it! On December 10th, the £1,000 cheque was presented to Daniel by Trowbridge Mayor Stephen Cooper when they both attended our Christmas Tune@Noon. I had a chance to chat with Daniel briefly about what the award means to him, and where he sees himself going from here. Daniel attended Beechen Cliff School and is now on a four year Jazz course at Guildhall in London. You can read his interview in our Newsletter.
