Flute Choir - A New Group

Are you looking for a friendly, fun flute group that caters for all ages and abilities? Are you looking to play the flute after a long break (maybe your flute is up in the attic!) or are you in the process of learning, maybe at school? Are you more experienced and would love the chance to play with others?

First Session Tuesday 25th May 6-7pm, at Wiltshire Rural Music, Trowbridge

To book your place, or for more information contact Gemma Tucker: gtuckermusic@gmail.com

I’ve been playing the flute for just over 30 years and have lots of experience playing in larger ensembles as well as smaller groups. I played with Innovations Jazz Orchestra in Hampshire for over 10 years, and they had a dedicated flute section which I loved being a part of. I’ve also played within school environments (my background is primary school teaching), community projects and more formal concerts and gigs. For me, enjoyment of music comes from playing with others, and there are not many opportunities locally to play the flute in a group ensemble, so here I am ready to set up our own community group!

A flute choir is the perfect option to play with other flautists and find like-minded musicians. I have a keen interest in jazz and swing style music but would happily offer music of all different genres if the rest of the group were keen.

I’d love to start by playing a fun tune by Gareth McLearnon called ‘The Flutewise Theme’ as well as some of the jazzy flute duets and trios that James Rae has written that we can adapt for a larger group of flutes. Lively music with great rhythms will be a must!

I look forward to meeting some of you flautists that I know are out there!

Only £5 per session
